We are looking for a Producer (Touring) to line-produce a number of touring productions as they tour internationally across 2024 and 2025 following their premieres in Manchester. If you have experience of producing or touring at a national or international level, if you love art and culture and if you like the kind of work we have produced at MIF, then we want to hear from you!

The role will sit within the Producing Department, which delivers work across all our programmes at Factory International. We are a department of Producers, Event Managers, Production Administrators as well as the Artist Liaison and Scheduling teams. We come from a wide range of backgrounds and we think we get to produce some of the most exciting projects made today – working with artists on ambitious and ground breaking new work.

The key responsibilities for the Touring Producer role include:

• Line producing a number of assigned international touring projects of scale

• Working closely with creative and production teams to plan and deliver the touring projects to the highest possible standards

• Working with the Executive Producer to develop and nurture creative relationships with key artists, partners and other organisations to enable the successful delivery of the touring shows

• Working closely with the Executive Producer and International team to manage Co-commissioner and Touring Venue relationships, providing timely information, leading on the presentation contracting process and attending relevant meetings

• Preparing and managing complex touring budgets in consultation with the Executive Producer using FI’s budget systems and templates. This will include the timely and accurate coding and authorising of purchase requests and invoices, budget forecasting, running and reconciliation as well as regular updating of budget projections and cashflows, together with the provision of other financial information as required

• Negotiating artist and project team fees and contracts within FI’s contracting system and templates, including venue presentation contracts

• Working closely with the Artist Liaison to scope out and deliver the touring logistics for the company, including accommodation, flights, work permits, foreign payment taxation

• Working closely with external contractors and internal colleagues across Technical, Artist Liaison, Audiences, Digital, Administration and Finance to provide them with requisite detailed project information so that they can blend their work into each touring project

• Chair internal and external meetings for the touring projects as require

• Working with the Production Administrators to ensure that information is shared on event management systems (including Artifax) and ensuring that information is continuously kept up to date on these systems

• As capacity allows between touring engagements, supporting the wider Producing department by scoping future projects, supporting research and development and supporting event delivery of other Factory International programmes and commissions

The person specification for the Touring Producer role are:

ESSENTIAL

• Experience of managing multiple projects at a range of scales

• Experience of touring projects nationally and/or internationally

• Experience of managing relationships with a range of partners in the UK and internationally

• Budget management experience and financial literacy, including complex financial reconciliation

• Strong negotiation skills and experience of negotiating and writing contracts

• Ability to engage with and use IT systems appropriate to the organisation

• Excitement, enthusiasm and competence in supporting artists to tour their work

• The ability to both work on own initiative and to lead a project team, to assess complicated situations quickly and to identify ways forward creatively

• Enthusiastic attitude and a flexible approach to developing and delivering work with the ability to manage multiple priorities

• Commitment to championing representation and inclusion at every level of the organisation with a proven ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds

DESIRABLE

• Knowledge of and enthusiasm for a range of arts and culture

• Knowledge of the international touring and festivals circuit

• Experience of international touring requirements around visas, working permits, taxation

• Enthusiasm for training, mentoring and support of emerging talent
